A timely follow on from our ‘one year on’ blog, we recently supported The Famous Grouse re-brand launch in London’s Welsh Chapel with audio visual equipment and event production – #somethingfamous. This venue is a bare shell which we transformed into a stunning backdrop for a much talked about sculpture that was created especially for the project and captured a unique collaboration of artistry and technology.
With the call to action to ‘be part of something famous’, Famous Grouse asked their supporters from across the world to submit their thoughts and ideas on fame: ‘what would you like to be famous for?’ Chosen suggestions would be laser cut into strips of metal to create the living part of the sculpture.
Our role was to ensure the venue itself looked amazing: from white canvas panels hiding the worn down walls onto which the words from the sculpture could project; covering all the windows to create complete darkness; providing sound equipment and basic audio visual kit, as well as further luxurious velvet draping in various areas of the venue as guests walked through their Famous Grouse journey.
Key to this event was atmospheric lighting, not only to produce an intimate feeling but also to highlight the kinetic sculpture and the new colours of the Famous Grouse brand. The venue really came into its own as our lighting enhanced the marble pillars, stone walls and huge dome ceiling (from which the sculpture was hung).
Not an event created over night, this was months in preparation for the artists and branding teams, with visionevents input being more on-site installing all the required audio visual and draping elements so that everything was right for the big launch which included fabulous musical performances.
Taking part was even more special for us as we have our own claim to fame in connection with The Famous Grouse as our Financial Controller and Company Secretary is part of the Gloag dynasty who were the founding family of this worldwide brand.
This was a real collaboration between artists, event managers, marketing and brand teams, and although our part was relatively small, we gave a big impact! Special thanks go to Lux Events Ltd who brought us on board for this exciting event.
